Eggface Get Well Soon Giveaway

When I'm feeling sick or have a cold it's really one of the only times I crave comfort carbs. It's something from my childhood (it's more about the comfort than the carbs) and most Italian-American kids will be nodding their head in agreement on this... it's a bowl of egg pastina (super tiny pasta) with freshly grated Parmesan and butter. It's what we eat when we're sick. Pasta is not a part of my post weight loss surgery life (my personal choice) so my sick day replacement is steamed zucchini with the same toppings and the bonus is zucchini's nutrients: vitamin C, vitamin B6 and vitamin K makes it a healthier (and equally comforting) choice. 1. Massaman Curry, Thai
Firmly curry king, and perhaps the king of all foods. Spicy, coconutty, sweet and delicious, combination of flavors has more personality than a Thai sauce election.Even package you buy from the supermarket can make the most delinquent cooks look like a Michelin potential. Thankfully, someone invented rice, where visitors can soak up the last drizzles of curry sauce. "The Land of Smiles" is not just a marketing catch-line. It was a decision that was born in a country where the most delicious food in the world is sold in almost every street corner.

2. Neapolitan Pizza, Italy
Save us a lumpy chain monstrosities and "everything-on-it" wheel greed. The best pizza was and still is simple Neapolitan, an invention that is protected by its own trade association that insists on sea salt, wheat flour with high quality, use only three varieties of tomatoes are fresh, hand-rolled dough and use a tight oven, among other qualities stipulations. With just some of the ingredients of firewood (marinara pizza dough, tomato, olive oil, salt and basil contains no cheese). Neapolitans created a food that some make it right, but everyone enjoyed thoroughly.

3. Chocolate, Mexico
Maya drank it, Lasse Hallström made a movie about it and the rest of us cope with the guilt of eating too much of it by eating more of it. The story of the cocoa bean to the humble are bona fide out-of-the-woods, the story of civilization wonder.Without this creamy dishes, confectionery bitter-sweet, Valentine's Day will be all the cards and flowers, Easter will be turned back into another event religion dull and halcyon days watching the dog vomit because you replaced the innards strawberry pink Quality Street with salt will be a figment of imagination.

4. Sushi, Japanese
If Japan wants to build something right, he builds it really right. giant brands like Toyota, Nintendo, Sony, Nikon and Yamaha might have been created by people motivated by nothing more complicated than raw fish and rice, but it is how the fish and the rice is put together that make this a first-date global favorite. Japanese people do not live practically forever without reason, they want to continue to eat this stuff.

5. Peking Duck, China
The maltose syrup glaze layer of the skin is the secret. slow roasted in the oven, crispy skin coated syrup is so good that eateries authentic skin will be more than meat, and brought it with pancakes, onions and hoisin sauce or sweet peas. Apart from flying or floating, this is the only way that you want your duck.

6. Hamburgers, Germany
When something that tastes so good that people spend US $ 20 billion per year in a single restaurant chain devoted to it, you know it has to fit into this list. McDonald's may not offer the best burgers, but that's the point. It has no affiliation to.the meat bread salad is so good that the whole country has only destroyed their ecosystems to produce more cattle.

Post Weight Loss Surgery Menus: A day in my pouch

A day in my pouch is a series of blog posts to show what a typical daily menu looks like in my post weight loss surgery world. Today's healthy and delicious menu...

Breakfast: We're getting some nice winter storms and we sure need the rain (and snow pack in the mountains) but it's putting a dent in my exercise schedule. I missed my morning walks. The sun finally came out this morning so I made the most of it and took an extra long walk. I came back and made myself a Wildberry Protein Shake (Celebrate Vitamins Wildberry Protein 20 Protein Powder, Soy Milk, and a few ice cubes in the blender), it's one of my favorites.

Lunch: One of my lunch go-to's are cold cut roll-ups, sometimes hot, sometimes cold, sometimes in a bento box lunch like today. Though I didn't stay outside long... it was pretty chilly if you weren't moving and we have metal outdoor chairs, Brrrr.

Dinner: Leftovers! I was so looking forward to this. It was dinner last night and it was ahhh-mazing. It was cold and rainy and this hit the spot. I scored a great deal on eggplant this week so I roasted a few trays. Just cube it (you can peel it but I don't), spread it evenly on a baking sheet, sprinkle with olive oil and kosher salt. Roast in a 425 oven (it takes about 40-45 minutes, depending on the water content of the eggplant) I give it a stir at the 20 minute mark and then every 10 minutes after that, you want golden and soft. Place it in the fridge (up to 3 days) great side on it's own with a sprinkle of Parmesan, great in a frittata or scrambled egg bowl, or use it in this recipe...

New Product Alert: Starbucks Sous Vide Egg Bites

A couple of weeks ago I read about this new breakfast item coming to the Starbucks menu and I was so excited. Yesterday, a reader (& barista) gave me the heads up that Sous Vide Egg Bites were now available in stores. I hadn't had breakfast yet so I walked over to my local Starbucks to give them a try.

Products Bariatric Surgery Weight Loss Fitness Blog

Sous Vide is a cooking technique where an item is vacuum-sealed and cooked in a hot water bath at a very consistent temperature without the use of added fats or oils. The result of the technique to these egg bites is a tender, velvety texture, sort of halfway between scrambled eggs and a quiche.

I love that Starbucks finally has this bread free breakfast (or anytime really) option as someone post weight loss surgery who has eliminated bread. I can imagine those affected by diabetes, those on a grain-free or gluten free diet, paleo or keto diet folks are cheering this new menu addition too. You know I love them because they are very similar to something I am already obsessed with for breakfast, my Eggface Egg Bites (aka crustless quiches.)

These Starbuck's Sous Vide Egg Bites come in 2 flavors:

Egg White & Roasted Red Pepper, 170 calories (2 per serving), 13 grams of protein - cage-free egg whites, Monterey Jack, cottage cheese, with spinach and fire-roasted red pepper. Vegetarian.

Bacon & Gruyere Cheese, 310 calories (2 per serving), 19 grams of protein - cage-free eggs, aged Gruyere and Monterey Jack cheese topped with a layer of Applewood smoked bacon.

WLS VSG Bariatric Surgery Food Ideas Blog

Verdict: I loved them both, I'd bring a friend, each order a different flavor and swap one of them so you get one of each flavor. I suppose if forced to choose, my favorite was the Egg White & Roasted Red Pepper. I love the savory roasted veggie flavor but... I might need another taste test to be sure.

WLS VSG Bariatric Surgery Food Ideas Blog

Well Kudos to you Starbucks... I was worried with the elimination of some of the Sugar Free syrup flavors lately (they axed SF Caramel & Hazelnut, still have SF Vanilla and Cinnamon Dolce) that Starbucks was starting to forsake its customers with health needs. This new menu item makes me hopeful.

Now... they are not cheap (prices in different markets may vary) I paid $4.45 for the pair and you can buy a dozen eggs and all the ingredients to make many batches of my egg bites with that but these will be a go-to for me when traveling and on days I'm out and about for convenience. Thanks Starbucks.

Grilled bananas chocolate cheese

Grilled bananas is my favorite food, let's take a look the recipe, and how to make it.

2 bananas , 1 tablespoon butter brown rice 50gm cheddar cheese - grated sweetened condensed milk 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, Peel the bananas and split into two parts. Heat a non stick pan, add butter and banana park and then over-switch (inverted upside down) until cooked.

I do not separate so that the banana is not split, but bake until slightly crisp. In the original recipe and enter the chocolate and cheese facedown in different parts of the banana.

Previously did not think was going to use bananas to make a delicious dessert like this. How to make it not so difficult. When children eat, then come out of their mouths sound "Hmmm... how nice mama..." for more interesting, sprinkle brown colored dust on it before serving.

Okay...let's see the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas chubby - for bananas
  • grated cheese
  • Milk / Sweetened Creamer
  • Chocolate sauce (Hersey's) - brown Ganach that exists in the fridge
  • Brown rice / Calored choc rice as a garnish

Methods:
Bananas chubby -  for banana grated cheese Milk / Sweetened Creamer chocolate sauce (Hersey's) - for Ganach chocolate inherent in the refrigerator rice Brown / Calored choc rice as a garnish - added for this dish, done 2 ways.

One original recipe and one way or rain dab of chocolate banana and sprinkle grated cheese before baking. After burning 5 minutes and removed, more chocolate drizzle and sprinkle with grated cheese and brown rice.

The results are shown below, as he wants Husna Brown explained that love it! .. Feeling better because chocolate and sprinkled with cheese before baking banana, mixed with banana taste ... mmm ... yummy.

Peel the bananas and cut into 2 lengthwise bananas. Grilled bananas in the oven at 180 C for 2 minutes or bake for the kitchen fire until slightly wilted banana and fragrant. (bake 5 minutes because of a little hard teksture bananas and need more time to cook it).

Apply sweetened creamer in the middle of banana and re valve. Lastly... pour chocolate and sprinkle with grated cheese.

Malaysian Chicken Rice Recipe

Malay Food: Chicken Rice Recipe
Malay Food: Chicken Rice Recipe

Chicken rice recipe, lets take a look the ingredients and materials.

Ingredients:
  • 1 whole chicken (3.5 lbs, 1.8kg), preferably organic
  • kosher salt
  • 4'' section of fresh ginger, in 1/4'' slices
  • 2 stalks green onions, cut into 1" sections (both the green and white parts)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

For the rice:

  • 2 tablespoon chicken fat or 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1'' section of ginger, finely minced
  • 2 cups long-grain uncooked rice, washed and soaked in cool water for 10 min or longer
  • 2 cups reserved chicken poaching broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

For the chili sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 2 tablespoon reserved chicken poaching broth
  • 2 teaspoon sugar
  • 4 tablespoon sriracha chili sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1'' ginger
  • a generous pinch of salt, to taste

Directions:

1. To clean the chicken, with a small handful of kosher salt, rub the chicken all over, getting rid of any loose skin and dirt. Rinse chicken well, inside and outside. Season generously with salt inside and outside. Stuff the chicken with the ginger slices and the green onion. Place the chicken in a large stockpot and fill with cold water to cover by 1 inch.

Bring the pot to a boil over high heat, then immediately turn the heat to low to keep a simmer. Cook for about 30 minutes more (less if you're using a smaller chicken). Check for doneness by sticking a chopstick into the flesh under the leg and see if the juices run clear or insert a thermometer into the thickest part of the thigh not touching bone. It should read 170F.

2. When the chicken is cooked through, turn off the heat and remove the pot from the burner. Immediately lift and transfer the chicken into a bath of ice water to cool and discard the ginger and green onion. Don't forget to reserve the poaching broth for your rice, your sauce, and the accompanying soup. The quick cooling will stop the cooking process, keeping the meat soft and tender, and giving the skin a lovely firm texture.

3. To cook the rice: Drain the rice. In a wok or sauce pan (use a medium sauce pan if you plan on cooking the rice on the stove top), heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil over medium-high heat. When hot, add the ginger and the garlic and fry until your kitchen smells like heaven. Be careful not to burn the aromatics! Add in your drained rice and stir to coat, cook for 2 minutes. Add the sesame oil, mix well.

To make the rice on the stove: In the same sauce pan, add 2 cups of your reserved poaching broth, add salt and bring to a boil. Immediately turn the heat down to low, cover the pot and cook for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit (with lid still on) for 5-10 minutes more.

To cook rice in a rice cooker: Pour aromatics and rice (after frying) into your rice cooker, add 2 1/2 cups of your reserved poaching broth and salt. Follow the instructions for your model (usually this will just mean "turn it on!")

4. While your rice is cooking, remove the chicken from the ice bath and rub the outside of the chicken with the sesame oil. Carve the chicken for serving.

5. To make the chili sauce: Blend your chili sauce ingredients in a blender until smooth and bright red.

6. To make the soup: You should have six or seven cups of the reserved poaching broth left over to serve as soup. Just before serving, heat up the soup, taste and season with salt as necessary.

Ok...now! ready to serve for lunch. Hope you enjoy the Chicken Rice Recipe.

    Costco Coupon Protein Shakes Recipes

I serve on the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) Board of Directors and every year we set the goals and agenda for the year at an annual Strategic Planning Meeting. For the past few years we have held this planning meeting in the same city where the OAC's Your Weight Matters National Convention is being held later in the year. This year's Convention is going to be in New Orleans. So I am headed there this weekend! I'll tell you that city with it's Beignets (doughnuts that are more powdered sugar than doughnut) and Bananas Foster (favorite New Orleans dessert, made from bananas, ice cream, a caramel sauce and rum then lit on fire!) could really put a dent in your calories for the day. I choose to use those calories while I'm there on the city's protein packed seafood and instead I made myself this delicious Bananas Foster Protein Shake this morning with a Premier Protein Bananas & Cream (each 11 oz. Ready to Drink Shake has 30g of protein, just 160 calories and only 1g of sugar, an easy and convenient way to meet your protein goals for the day and way less sugar!)
